Yarış oyunu dendi mi akla ilk gelen isimlerden olan Need for Speed serisi, son yıllarda hız kesmiş olmasına karşın, sıradaki oyunlar ile yeniden gaza yüklenmek niyetinde.
Şüphe yok ki 2008'de satışa sunulan Need for Speed: Undercover tam bir hayal kırıklığıydı. Dünya ortalaması 60 puan olan yapım, serinin belki de en zayıf üyesiydi. 10 yıldan fazladır süregelen yarış oyununun bu kadar yerlerde süründürülmesi, kullanıcılar kadar yapımcıların da hoşuna gitmemiş olmalı ki, EA bu yıl seride köklü değişime gitti.
Evvela Need for Speed (NFS) başlığını, yalnızca PC için yılın son çeyreğinde satışa sunulacak olan NFS: World Online, sadece Wii için bu yaz sonu piyasaya çıkması planlanan NFS: Nitro ve yeni nesil konsollarla beraber PC'ye de çıkacak olan NFS: Shift olarak üçe ayıran EA, bu sıradışı hamlesiyle fan'ları bir hayli şaşırttı.
